识文：桓大司马问刘真长，会稽王谈更进耶。曰极尽，然故第三流耳。问第一复谁，曰故在我辈。款识：嘉庆五年庚申中冬之杪，蕙圃四兄属，雩门桂馥。钤印：桂复之印（白） 未谷（朱）签条：曲阜桂未谷先生隶书直幅。方荫远珍弆。
作者简介：桂馥（1736～1805），字冬卉，一字未谷，号雩门、渎井、肃然山外史等，山东曲阜人。乾隆五十五年进士，官云南永平知县。学问广博，邃于金石考据之学。善书画、篆刻、汉隶，雅负盛名。暮年始好写生，别饶古韵。兼能山水，宗倪瓒、黄公望，亦能写真。
