A BLUE AND WHITE CELADON-GROUND ‘LOTUS POND’ CENSER, KANGXI PERIOD China, 1662-1722. The compressed globular body rising from a slightly spreading foot to a waisted neck with lipped rim. Finely molded in high relief and decorated on the celadon ground in white slip and underglaze blue with a circumferential lotus pond design below a raised line band, the interior and base glazed white, the foot rim left unglazed. The recessed base with a double circle in underglaze blue.

Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and firing flaws, including dark spots and glaze recesses.

During the early Qing dynasty, up until the early 1680s, conditions were unsettled in China and the making of Imperial wares as well as the use of reign marks on porcelain was restricted in various ways. During this period, different types of other marks came into use, including lozenge marks, lingzhi fungus marks, and double circles.

中國，1662-1722年。簋式爐，唇口外撇，短束頸，肩部一道凸紋，鼓腹下垂，出高圈足。外壁青釉地上青花描繪荷塘中荷花與荷葉爭相搖曳。爐内和底足内白釉，圈足露胎。底部雙圈青花款。
