A LARGE SANDSTONE HEAD OF BUDDHA, POST-ANGKOR PERIOD Cambodia, 13^th-15^th century. The serene face with heavy-lidded downcast eyes below elegantly curved brows, a broad nose, and full lips forming a subtle smile, flanked by long pendulous earlobes, the hair arranged in tight curls surmounted by the domed ushnisha surrounded by three rows of stylized lotus petals.

Provenance: From an old German private collection.
Condition: Good condition, commensurate with age. Extensive wear, losses, minor nicks and scratches, signs of weathering and erosion. Ancient lacquer coating, probably from the 19^th century or earlier, with remnants of gilt.
