Allestry 'at the Rose and Crown in Duck Lane', Printers to the Royal Society 1667, first edition with rare fold-out frontispiece, engraved coat of arms after note from the imprinter (Will. Morrice), 438 pages and two folding plates, full calf gilt titled red Morocco to spine, 4to.A rare volume in that it includes the fine frontispiece engraved by John Evelyn which is notable in horological circles as amongst the objects in the background is the only known representation one of the two longitude pendulum sea clocksmissioned in around 1662 by Alexander Bruce, Earl of Kincardine. This engraving and the objects contained within are discsed in length by Michael Hunter in his book the image of Restoration Science - The frontispiece to Thomas Sprat's 'History of the Royal Society' (Routledge, London 2017).
