A Chinese Longquan celadon vase dating from the Song or Yuan dynasty. The neck of the vase is flanked by two phoenix handles. Dimensions are: 7 inches tall X 4 inches in diameter, 17.8 cm X 10.2 cm. Notes: No two words describe this Song or Yuan Dynasty vase better than "clean" and "simple." A product of the famous Longquan kiln system, the vase is coated in an even layer of the kiln's iconic translucent celadon glaze. Its shape, on the other hand, is not as typical as its coloring: it has a wide mouth, a long tubular neck, and a round body. Notably, there are phoenix-shaped handles flanking the neck. Each phoenix head faces outward, with the crown feathers and the phoenix body connecting each beast to the vase. They are stylized in such a way that makes them curious to look at, complex creatures made with only a set of basic shapes. These shapes, however, allow the vase to retain its air of clean simplicity. The double-phoenix handle vase is one of the rarest vase shapes from the Song Dynasty, which, coupled with the fine celadon glaze, makes this piece rarer than rare.本件作品撇口，管狀長頸，膽形圓腹。頸部兩側各作鳳型耳，鳳首朝外，冠羽及鳳身與器頸連接，鳳形傳神，鳳首、眼、羽翼印紋清晰，線條圓潤，外型美觀大方。全器施粉青釉，釉色純正，色澤典雅，釉面光滑，釉層凝厚，清澈晶瑩。圈足底部胎體呈黃褐色，細致結實。雙鳳耳瓶為宋代龍泉青瓷的特有器型之一，其胎，釉，形制設計應為典型宋末元初之龍泉精品。此瓶釉色極具龍泉青瓷特色，圓腹造型在當時的龍泉瓶中實屬難得，同種類瓶器中極為罕見，實為不可多得之收藏精品。The National Palace Museum in Taipei houses a similar example dating from the Southern Song Dynasty.
