此箱由箱、屉两部分组成，通体黄花梨制。此箱形体硕大，子母口上下为一道宽平线，盖顶、箱底皆打洼作，纹理美观，鬼脸点缀，底作披麻披灰。盖内平屉内设多格屉板，以下又安两具抽屉，收纳功能强，可存笔墨砚章等小件文玩使用灵活。箱体沿边包镶铜条加固，正面镶嵌葵花形面叶和云头纹拍子，两侧安弧形提环，方便搬移。掀开箱盖金光耀动，颇富生气，木纹细致自然，色泽沉穆，包浆沉着。通体光素，纹理细腻，纤毫毕现。做工规整，比例舒适，置于案心中可想见古代文人的简洁雅致的生活场景。
