此件笔筒为黄花梨质，平口直身，平沿平底，筒身微敛。册页式一书一画布局，阴刻风竹梅花图，画面作平坡式构图。竹筱受风，竹叶飘飖飞舞，间设梅花寒天怒放。风是无形的，最难写出，端赖景物的烘托显现。此处寥寥几笔，风竹萧瑟，韵味丰饶，梅花凌空徐扬，傲霜斗雪，能令观者顿觉清风袭来之凉意。运刀技法娴熟老辣，未受黄花梨木的坚硬材质所限，仍是游刃有余而不减刀趣。器壁阴刻题诗五言绝句一阕，跌宕伟岸中有出尘的气质，能与画面相辉映，堪称合壁之作。此风竹梅花竹图笔筒集诗、书、画、刻四美兼备，诗书之气，光华自现。
