ANOTHER PROPERTY A small Ge-type Water CoupeQing Dynasty the small vessel of globular shape with short waisted neck and covered all over in a greyish-cream glaze with a double crackle, supported on three short nipple feet exposing a red clay body, the larger grey crackle interspersed with a smaller but denser crackle of pale brown tone. 2 1/4in (5.8cm) diam; 1 1/4in (4.6cm) high 清 哥釉三足小水丞 Provenance: Alice Boney, New York, 1956 (as Song Dynasty) Dr. B. For a small ge-type brush washer of the Yuan or early Ming dynasty displaying the matrix of darker 'iron-wire' crackle with 'golden' threads so beloved of this ware, and beautifully re-created in our later Qing example, see Sotheby's, 4 November 2020, lot 183.
