Circa 100 AD A well modelled head of a mature man; this is highly likely to represent someone of importance throughout the Romano-Celtic world. Most likely either a prince or nobleman. Finely carved with a creased forehead, deeply set eyes, sunken cheeks, prominent cheek-bones and a thin upper lip. His short hair is brushed forward inma-like curls above his forehead typically known as the Julian hairstyle. Size: L:390mm (with stand) / W:220mm; 13.3kg Provenance: Property of a London gentleman; formerly with Mahboubian Gallery, London, UK; acquired before 1972.
