Circa 600 AD A gold ring with a large tapering band, leading onto a bulbous shaped bezel. The bezel houses a trumpet which leads onto a centre garnet, surrounded by eight gold finger like granules, beside this are two conical shaped flat garnet gemstones or possibly glass, surrounded by boarder of filigee decoration. The band has a layer which continues around the band and over the bezel on both sides. The item has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements.
