Circa 1600-1700 AD, North India A Deccan Pilgrim flask, copper, with suspicion loops and elegant curved finials. This fine example contains an evolved abstract peacock motif at its centre. Originally created from animal hide versions this specific form is seen in 17th century Deccan court paintings implying its provenance. Size: L:290mm / W:310mm; 1.7kg Provenance: From private London collection; previously acquired in Paris in 2005; formerly in French collection since the 1970s.
