Translation provided by Youdao
Dated 1893 AD Second rare black and white early photograph, view of minbar in the precinct of the sacred mosque. Almost certainly taken during the Friday Jumah prayer and sermon. The Imam can be seen at the top of the minbar giving speech. Possibly a very rare early image of a Eunuch Guardian or Agha guarding the minbar entrance door. Spectacular details captured throughout including the original oil lamps used to illuminate the mosque before electricity was introduced almost three decades later. Inscribed Mirza and Sons, Delhi, India. Size: L:300mm / W:228mm; 40g Provenance: From a Private London collection of Mr. K.A.; formerly acquired in Oriental Art Auction.
