A pair of ancient Chinese bronze Taotie mask loose ring handles, dating from the Warring State (475-221 BCE). each crisply cast in low relief with multi-ridged eyebrows centered by an unusual cequered-pattern cylinder below two curling horns, the beak curled under to support the solid ring, the side edges of the masks with tightly-scrolled tufts and crests ,the reverse with a thick projecting pin from the center of the back for mounting ,all under a soft silvery green patina H. 2 1/2" (6.3 cm) collection of a private Maryland collector Condition good condition overall for age and use. Some slight age pitting to the surface.
