Measurements: Height: 13.75" Diameter/Depth: 11.5" Lustrous, Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Red and white dragon porcelain jar. The Finest porcelain potted in cylinder vessel, jar shape, large, having thick and tall potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, ovoid belly on middle gently tapered on short neck toward opening mouth prominent, and raised on flat round foot base. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in ruby red under glazed, depicted of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a ruby red color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. Flowers blooms with interlocking tendril on the shoulder, enclosed repeating key fret on the upper mouth rim. Red is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. It was originated in the Qing Dynasty. Its color does not easily fade and durability is longer. It used cobaltous oxide as the colorant. Patterns were directly painted onto the inner body and burnt after glaze was applied on it. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy.
