The son of the Earl of Halifax, who had been Viceroy of India (1926-31), Wood followed his father into politics, becoming a Conservative M.P. in 1950, serving in Churchill's Cabinet from 1951 to 1955; sold by Diana, Lady Holderness directly to the vendor.
