A JADEITE 'LEAF AND GRAPES' BRUSH WASHER, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC PERIODChina, 1840-1940. Carved as young grapes on a vine leaf, the front and reverse with finely incised veins. The translucent jadeite is of a fine, grayish-white tone with distinct emerald-green streaks and faint russet veining. The raised grapes were likely designed to serve as a brush rest.Provenance: From a reputed French private collection.Condition: Superb condition with a few minuscule nicks to the rim.
