A FINE PAIR OF KOMAI STYLE MINIATURE VASESJapan, Komai style, Kyoto, Meiji period (1868-1912) Each of baluster shape, decorated in rich gold damascene with a reserve on each side, one enclosing a dragon chasing the flaming pearl amid clouds, the other with a riverside scene with houses, pine trees and mountains in the foreground, all against a dense ground of floral scroll. The underside with a torii (shrine gate) mark. HEIGHT 10.5 cm WEIGHT (total) 271.3 gCondition: Good condition with minor surface wear, such as light surface scratches and minuscule dents.Provenance: German private collection.
