TWO ORNAMENTAL GOLD LACQUER BOXESJapan, Meiji period (1868-1912). Comprising of a larger rectangular box with two layers, decorated in gold with ornamental patterns. The smaller rectangular box painted in gold lacquer with kiku blossoms and medallions, the interior and base with a nashiji ground.Provenance: An important East German private collection, mostly assembled in the 1970's and 80's. A label inside the larger box with Japanese inscriptions.Condition: Good condition, the smaller box with cracks along the edges and minor material loss, the larger box with minor surface wear at the base.Weight: 100 g and 15.1 gDimensions: Length 15.5 cm and 5 cm
