A SUIT OF ARMOR WITH EBOSHI KABUTOJapan, Meiji period (1868-1912)The matching components of iron and laced in blue, comprising an eboshi kabuto mounted with a maedate in the form a mythical beast with long antlers and further with a four-lame shikoro; a brown and red-lacquered hanbo with a three-lame yodare-kake; the armor fitted with kusazuri, kote and tekko over blue textile; and further with sode (shoulder guards), haidate (thigh guards), and suneate (shin guards).HEIGHT approx. 170 cmCondition: Commensurate with age, extensive traces of wear, flakes to the lacquer, corrosion, and tears to the fabric.Provenance: Czech private collection.With a wood storage box.
