Of archaic bronze form, the octagonal shaped censer supported on four tall cylindrical legs, each leg with a cartouche enclosing a lotus bloom, the base with small raised flowers. The vessel with raised gilt decoration against a surface splashed with robin’s-egg turquoise enamels to mimic encrustation on ancient bronzes, finely carved and moulded in low relief to the exterior with eight panels of beribboned Buddhist emblems, the bajixiang: the wheel of Dharma, the parasol, the golden twin fish, the endless knot, the victory banner and a treasure vase, each balanced above an open lotus flower, all above a band of pendant shield shaped lappets enclosing liewen scrolls and small raised bosses, the shoulder with a border of stylised geometric kui dragons, the neck with a raised band of pendant ruyi heads, the rim with a leiwen border boldly incised with the seal mark of Qianlong. Period: Qianlong mark and period (1736‑1795). Height: 20 cm, diameter: 19.5 cm.
