A pair of good John Rose Coalport platescirca 1805-10of typical lobed form, with painted decoration attributable to independent decoration by William Billingsley at Mansfield (or by another working in Billingsley's atelier, under his supervision), featuring a vase and an urn of tightly packed flowers in bold contrasting colours, with a broad deep cobalt and gilt border,unmarked, 22.5cm diameter(2) Both plates generally in good condition with no serious damages or repairs. One plate has a small y-shaped crazing line to the underside and the other has a foot rim chip and a few further small foot rim ribble. The painting to the centre remains in a good condition with no obvious rubbing or scratches. One plate has some slight rubbing to approximately 1/3rd of the rim.
