81 x 60 cm; 178 x 128 cm (frame).
Novo-Hispanic frame; 17th century. Carved and gilded wood. Slight gilded skips. It has a broken glass and damages in the carving. Measurements: 81 x 60 cm; 178 x 128 cm (frame). The frame has a rectangular profile on the inside and a mixtilinear profile on the outside, although this profile is surpassed in the upper and lower part of the structure. In the lower corners we can see large, delicately carved scrolls, with great naturalism, directly inspired by the Spanish ornamental background of the 17th century. These details inscribe different circles inside the carving in which part of the mirror itself can be seen. The upper part is decorated with vegetal ornamentation, which ends in a crest in the shape of a palmette or stylised scallop. The back of the frame, with a composition that unifies its structure, is decorated with rich, meticulously detailed vegetal scrolls in a complex, moving and symmetrical composition. These scrolls stand out against the gilt background.
