Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 332-30 BC A rare cartonnage panel made to adorn a mummified body. The chest piece has an elaborate wesekh-collar surmounted with two heads of Ra-Horakhty, four mourners, djed pillar, and decorated with lotus petals, radiating bars and discs; the goddess Maat kneeling with arms raised and wings spread, hands holding the feathers of truth; below register shows the jackal-headed god Anubis, preparing the deceased body, lying on a bier which is lion-headed with animal legs; a stylised funerary mask is covering the head of the deceased and his body wrapped in bandages. Below the bier, are four vases which could possibly represent the canopic jars container the viscera. Above the mummy, is a flying bird with a human head, referred to as the ba-bird. The next last register with a heart scarab beetle with a sun disk crown. Item comes with a professional historical report from Ancient Report Specialists.
