In the artist's own words "My continuous visits to Sweden were a turning point in my work. They made me connect from the beginning, in a special way, with the mystery that surrounds the typical wooden houses and the landscape of those places. Their corners, their sounds, their intimacy, their solitude, their tranquillity, their people... All these elements and sensations awaken in me a feeling of longing, of nostalgia, of a certain sense of belonging".José Ignacio Lucia Orrite was born in Madrid in 1981. Painting and football have been his great passions since childhood. He was soon awarded prizes in some international children's competitions, which emphasised his dedication and interest in painting. This did not prevent him from studying Technical Engineering in Computer Science. Later, however, he studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. In the last year of his studies he was selected for the Ayllón Scholarship, where he was awarded first prize in painting. Once he finished his Fine Arts studies, he participated in several international art fairs, while continuing his training. During this period he visited Sweden and other Nordic countries on a regular basis. This was a turning point in his work.
