此拍品做工讲究，楠木独板。此匾较为独特之处在于双面做工，双面皆题匾文，殊为罕见，且双面皆填矿彩，匾文书风秀润端儒，寓意文雅。一面题“得闲还读古人书”，意思是勉励人们闲时多读圣贤之书。“人在蓬莱第一峰”语出明代胡俨有诗《永乐八年春二月被诏直内阁即事》：“绿窗朱户图书满，人在蓬莱第一峰。”，勾勒了胡俨被明成祖朱棣诏进内阁时看到窗明净几、图书满室时，有一种如沐春风，身临仙境般的喜悦心情。“得闲还读古人书、人在蓬莱第一峰”均意在劝勉人们多多读书、不断学习。
