Central European school of the 18th century. "King David". Mixed media on parchment, glued to cardboard. Measurements: 13 x 18 cm. Iconographically, both the crown and the instrument he plays clearly indicate the identity of the personage represented half-length in this painting on parchment: it is King David, the second monarch of the Kingdom of Israel who managed to unify its dominions. He is mentioned and appears in the Bible, in the Books of the Prophet Samuel and the Book of Psalms, and was considered one of the great rulers of Israel, revered as king and prophet. The bearded figure, draped in rich fabrics, looks up at the divine symbol of the Eye inscribed in a triangle as he plucks the strings.
