This book deals with the origins of the chronograph up to the present day. The author tells us that since 1861, the great names of watchmaking such as Pouzait, Sarton, Moinet, Rieussec, Perrelet, Jacob... had put in place all the technologies that made it possible to manufacture chronographs as they are defined today. He therefore reviews more than 160 reproductions of calibres while exploring the first production sites, first the Vallée de Joux and Geneva, then in a more industrial way intensifying production in Le Locle, La Chaux-de-Funds and St Imier. The pocket chronograph had never before benefited from such a study.
