French serving tray. Directory period, late s. XVIII-pps. s.XIX. "Coastal scene". Polychrome metal. Needs cleaning. Measures: 45 x 59,5 x 4 cm. Oval tray from the Directoire period, in polychrome metal, with a central representation of a marina (a coastal scene with boats and some figures) in which the influence of the sublime, pre-romantic landscapes of the French painter Claude-Joseph Vernet (Avignon, 1714-Paris, 1789) can be appreciated. The scene is bordered by a vegetal garland occupying the outside of the tray, and an openwork gallery-like eave surrounds the plate.
