Half-length portrait of a girl with big eyes and vivid expression, solved in a realistic language, in the line of the naturalistic realism that was developed in the nineteenth-century Europe. The flesh tones are just the right amount of soft, tender skin. The facial oval is separated from the background, giving volume to the figure and giving it a sense of presence. The brightness of the gaze, the subtle gleam, the silky hair and the blue dress with its unblemished pleats make up a portrait that is capable of challenging us.
