清代仿古之風甚盛，體現於各種材質的器物之上，而玉器之中仿古之作尤其多，此件即為一例。鼎是青銅器重要器形之一。傳說夏禹曾鑄九鼎於荊山之下，以象徵九州，史書曾記：「帝製九鼎，以應九州」，鼎是古代旌功記績的禮器，歷代的國君或王公大臣在重大禮器當中，皆以鼎最為重要。此鼎由整塊玉料琢製，以商周時期之青銅鼎為藍本製作，鼎四方，折沿，方腹斜收，柱形足，有蓋，呈覆鬥形，方形鈕。內壁打磨光潤，器身、口沿、蓋沿處以浮雕、陰線刻回紋、繩紋等紋飾。整件造型厚重古樸，輪廓方直，顯現出不可動搖的氣勢，不論造型、工藝均達到極高的水平，品相佳美，值得收藏。
