Silk with multi-colored silk threads. China, Republican period

This square orange background silk embroidery shows a central roundel with butterflies and chrysanthemums, surrounded by further floral arrangements. In each of the corners we furthermore see a pavilion and a bat. The panel consists of two joint segments and is framed by a woven band showing ornamental decoration and auspicious objects.

Dimensions: 96 x 96 cm
Condition: Good condition with only minor wear and few open stitches or loose threads. The outer border is somewhat frail with few tears and holes.
