Silk with multi-colored silk and gold brocade threads, backside lined with plain linen. China, around 1920

This decorative silk wall-hanging shows colorful embroidery depicting warriors with their weapons. Two of the soldiers are mounted on horseback and the scene takes place in a nature landscape with blooming trees, chrysanthemums and two bats visible at the upper left. The royal blue silk panel is framed by a golden rimmed midnight blue band.
