Ca. 202 BC - 220 AD. A large terracotta figure in the form of a warrior, wearing decorated armour over his thigh-length robe painted in red pigment and shortened trousers, his face is well defined holding a serene expression, his eyes, nose and mouth well-articulated, a pointed moustache sits above his lip, his lips small and narrow in a red blood-like tone, his eyes rounded, eyebrows long and forever providing expression by the artist. The warrior's arm is bent at the elbow, his hand perforated ready to hold a spear. This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements. The TL certificate with its full report will accompany this lot. Size: L: 530mm / W: 160 ; 3,8kg Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed before 2000 on the UK /European art markets.
