A DEMI PARURE OF LATE GEORGIAN MOSS AGATE JEWELLERY CIRCA 1810The ear pendants with removable articulated shaped moss agate panels with beaded surrounds, hinged hook fittings, together with a shaped moss agate panel with a shaped moss agate drop, and two additional drops, in period silk lined leather case Size/dimensions: ear pendants 8.2cm long; brooch 7.7cm longGross weight: 28.8 grams品相报告: The earrings can be worn in three was- one with just the pediments, panels 1.9cm long including hooks, then with the articulated drops, 8.2cm long, and the third way with the separate panels, 5.8cm long. The earrings have some wear commensurate with age and use, but one of the top tapered agate panels from the articulated drop pendants has broken across the top and also has a chip by the break, but it is still held in place, it isnt hugely noticeable unless under inspection. The other earring has a crack across the top in a similar place which is again held in place and not very noticeable without a loupe. The panels also have small natural healed fractures across some of the panels The additional panels appear to have originally been the additional drops to the brooch, but it appears that they were converted to be worn as the shorter ear pendant drops. This is possibly because the drop fittings which are still on the brooch to the sides of the central drop have had damage to one side and damage and a repair to the other where the drops would have been suspended. One of the drop ends has been crushed. One of the smaller panels has a crack across the panel The brooch fitting itself has some damage and repair, fittings added and removed, some detailed above, a pendant fitting looks like it has been later added and subsequently removed, the brooch fitting has been repaired. To see a similar pair of ear pendants please see Ginny Redington Dawes with Olivia Collings, Georgian Jewellery 1714-1830, page 53The case has wear and warping as s=commensurate with age, the silk lining has perishing and the leather outer case has wear.
