On the four sides is a belt of delicately-carved patterning portraying a continuous, visual story: Two scholars wait along the shore for a boat to arrive. After boarding, they ride the boat to the other side, trek through the land before reaching the retreat of an immortal. The pair of scholars proceed to worship him, asking for his wisdom. The brush pot's underside is inscribed with a Qianlong four-character seal mark in gold color. In a typical Qianlong fashion, the overall craftsmanship of the brush pot is masterful.
