Of flattened ovoid form, rising from an oval foot to a slightly waisted neck, carved in low relief through the olive-brown layer with variegated shadings to the white opaque glass depicting a fisherman on a boat, surrounded by lotus buds, birds, and a bat, the reverse with a horseman pulling a mule, above a bat and a gnarly branch. Provenance: Jutheau, Paris, 21 November 1993, lot 17. French private collection, by repute acquired from the above (invoice lost). Thence by descent within the family to the last owner.
