Description AN FINE YANGCAI ENAMEL 'HORSES' DISH, QINGChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The rounded sides rising from a ring foot, the interior delicately rendered with a rich scene of three grazing horses with differently colored coats besides gnarled trees and rocks. The artwork clearly showing the influence of Castiglione and bearing amongst other inscriptions the artist signature 'Xiao Peng Huxian Guan'. The cavetto with a dense floral scroll and fruity floral reserves against a blue ground, all above a narrow band of stylized vines and a band of floral scroll reserves and geometric decor. The reverse shows five stylized blue dragons on a bright yellow ground, the border neatly painted with further floral scroll against a pink background and within bands of key-fret and a leafy scroll.Condition: Good condition with some surface wear and shallow scratches, flaws, and pitting. Provenance: French private collection, Paris, acquired from a private collection in Versailles.Weight: 600 gDimensions: Diameter 26.5 cm
