19th/20th century|Comprising: a small red stoneware square baluster vase, with archaistic script and blades of grass; a duanni and black slip-covered square pear-shaped vase with incised archaic calligraphy and a blossoming prunus branch, the base with two impressed seals; a red clay square pear-shaped vase standing on four small feet, also with incised calligraphy and prunus branch; and a small brown clay pear-shaped vase with incised bamboo, prunus and magnolia, the base with seal mark [Shenxi].|The largest: 20.5cm (8in) high (4).|Provenance: The first vase purchased from Lorenz Denney on 8 December 1984.Compare the brown clay vase with an almost identical one in duanni clay, but with incised calligraphy to the reverse, sold by Woolley and Wallis on 22 May 2014, lot 947.
