A BARBED-RIM IRON-RED AND GILT-DECORATED ‘LADIES’ DISH, KANGXI PERIODChina, 1662-1722. The dish with shallow sides flaring towards the rim, the walls molded in a tulip design, finely painted in iron-red, gilt, red, and black enamels, depicting at the center a roundel enclosing two court ladies in a palace garden, one holding a flower, surrounded by rockwork, prunus, and bamboo. The cavetto painted with tulip heads enclosing floral sprays alternating with single flowers, a diaper-patterned band with blossoms below the rim. The reverse with three floral sprays.Provenance: French trade.Condition: Very good condition with some wear and firing flaws, minor fritting, few tiny chips to foot.
