Ca. 100-200 AD. A finely crafted gold pyxis, a container that would have been used to hold expensive substances, such as perfumes, oils, or unguents. The cylindrical body of the pyxis is elegantly proportioned, with a pronounced top edge that provides a visually striking silhouette. The top part of the pyxis features an elaborately decorated central suspension loop, which is designed with a ribbed pattern that enhances its visual interest. This loop would have allowed the pyxis to be suspended from a chain or cord, making it a portable and convenient accessory.
