Ca. 400-500 AD. A glass bracelet having a solid, yellow center band, trimmed on both edges with a black and white “rope twist” border. Overall silvery iridescent surface patina. Intact, excellent condition. Glass bangles had a long lifespan and were also worn in the Middle Ages under Rome's successor state, the Byzantine Empire, where women often wore dresses which revealed their arms, making bracelets an especially appropriate accessory choice.Size: L:90mm / W:95mm ; 30gProvenance: The collection of Jane and Jack Weprin, NYC.
