Eastern Viking, Ca. 600-900 AD. A wooden idol is an anthropomorphic, free-standing sculpture, characterized by simplified features and a long cloak. The figure has an oval-shaped head with simple carved facial features, including large, circular eyes and a broad nose. The body is elongated and slim, with the arms and legs outstretched. These idols were used in religious practices, serving as representations of their deities.
