MZDI, "MAZDAI" = MAZAIOS; lion left, attacking and bringing down a bull.Mazaios had an important command in the second half of the fourth century BC under the reign of Artaxerxes II (404-359), Artaxerxes III (359-338), Arses (338-336) and finally Darius III Codoman (336-330). He was satrap of Cilicia, then after 351, governor of Trans-Euphratesia. In 334, he was replaced by Arsames. When taking of Tarsus in 333 BC, Mazaios rallied to Alexander the Great.
