ISODA KORYUSAI (1735-90) KATSUKAWA SHUNSHO (1726-92) EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY Two Japanese woodblock prints, the first by Kory ū sai and entitled Seitoji bansho (Evening Bell at Seitoji ) from the series Tōtō Hokushu hakkei (Eight Views of Northern Edo), depicting two beauties in a garden, one adjusting the obi of the other, signed Koryū ga , with the seal of the Hayashi Collection, 26.2cm x 18.9cm, the frame with a label reading 'seal of the Hayashi Collection, bought from Murakami 15th April 1909' in French; the other print by Shunsh ō depicting two women and a samurai in an interior, one holding the man's sleeve, with Shunsho's tsubo -shaped seal reading Hayashi , 26cm x 19.5cm; both prints with embossed details. (2) Provenance: from the collection of Adolphe Stoclet (1871-1949). The Koryūsai print previously in the collection of Hayashi Tadamasa (1854-1906).
