Ca. 1200 AD. A bronze ewer with a bulbous body and rounded collar of the vessel harmoniously complement the tall funnel-shaped neck with a flat rim, while the low ring foot provides a stable base. The most striking feature of this ewer is the curved, long spout that protrudes from the main compartment, elegantly complemented by the curvaceous handle with two loops that connects the neck and the shoulder. Bronze ewers were an essential part of daily life, serving a variety of functions, including pouring water and other liquids. These vessels were often decorated with intricate designs and patterns that reflect the beauty and elegance of Islamic art and culture. Size: L:210mm / W:170mm ; 500gProvenance: Private London collection of Early Islamic Art - M.A.; formerly acquired on the UK art market since the 1980s.
