Ca. 224-651 AD. A bronze vessel with a squat body, tapering to a flat base, which provides stability for the vessel, but also adds to its elegant appearance. The vessel is adorned with a stylized handle that includes a finger support, which would have allowed the user to comfortably grasp the vessel. The exterior is adorned with a ribbed register around the mid-section and lines of fine calligraphy below and above it. The Sasanian Empire, which existed from 224 to 651 CE, was a powerful and prosperous civilization.
