Ca. 17th-19th century AD. A circular plate with a serrated edge, featuring a fine calligraphy inscription in the central recess. The rest of the interior surface is adorned with eight cartouches, each showcasing a seated figure holding instruments and other objects. Between the cartouches are depictions of four-legged animals facing the center of the plate, and along the outer edge runs a decorative band of vegetal and floral decorations. The intricate and skillful execution of the Arabic script reflects the sacred nature of this art form and the deep respect for the written word in Islamic culture.
