Ca. 664-332 BC. This extremely fine modelled amulet depicts a scarab with a naturalistic underside and a loop and its belly. Scarabs in this shape may have been used as amulets for mummies and they are called naturalistic scarabs or funerary scarabs. They are differentiated by their shape from the most common form of scarabs, which has a flat underside with designs or short inscription.
