Ca. 1504-1450 BC. A fine Egyptian steatite scarab with naturalistic features such as a clypeus and prothorax marked by incised lines. The reverse is detailed with a cartouch of Thutmose, reading the cartouche at the top of the scarab reads Mn-khpr-re (the royal throne name of Thutmose III). The sedge and the bee symbol standing for King of Upper and Lower Egypt.Size: L:13.5mm / W:9.3mm ; 1.16gProvenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s; previously in 1970s UK collection.
