AN ARCHAISTIC GREEN JADE TRIPOD VESSELChina, 20th century. Skillfully executed in the Han Dynasty style, exhibiting exceptional levels of craftsmanship quality, and created entirely through manual carving and chiseling. The cylindrical vessel is raised on three animal mask feet and is carved around the deep sides with a band of sinuous chilong within bands of smaller and larger linked scrolls, the cover is carved with three ring handles and a central square handle with a twisted rope loose ring surrounded by a pair of chilong, further decorated with raised ridges and an interlinked scroll pattern. The almost completely opaque stone of a green tone with creamy inclusions and surface alterations.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and minuscule nibbling here and there. A weathered chip to the mouth rim. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent. Acquired in the Hong Kong antiques market in the early 1990s.
